Because Christmas is one of the happiest times of the year for a child, what better than spending the happiest time of the year at one of the happiest places on earth.

Christmas day at Disneyland will definitely be one of those unforgettable experiences, and if you can get to do it, why not?

The Disneyland Christmas celebration officially begins November 8th and runs until the first week of January. The week of Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving weekend the parks become crowded and stay that way through most of the Christmas season.

There are many activities lined up for this part of the year. The week between Christmas and New Year is said to be the busiest time of the year for Disneyland, even though this is considered the off season in Disneyland.

Why To Visit Disneyland At Christmas Time

The Disneyland resort gets even more beautiful every year around the Christmas holidays. There is plenty of magic year-round at the Disneyland parks. However, there is always an added layer of magic that comes during the fall and winter seasons. The most significant and most festive changes are over the Christmas period.Christmas Day at Disneyland

Disneyland staff work extra hard to make Christmas very special and Santa’s Reindeer Roundup is especially special, as it allows the children to decorate Christmas cookies with Mrs. Clause, play Reindeer Games and make holiday souvenirs.

What with seeing all the Disney characters dressed up in their holiday costumes and enjoying the ‘snow’ after the fireworks, you will find it hard to top this sort of Christmas anywhere else.

Apart from stunning decorations, part of the fun of experiencing a Disneyland Christmas are all the rides that get an appropriate upgrade just for this season.

Haunted Mansion Holiday starts early, with the Halloween Time events, but It’s a Small World follows soon after with a fantastic Christmas light display over the iconic facade.

Adventure Cars Land is in full jingle mode, with seasonal overlays on two major attractions. Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl and Mater’s Jingle Jamboree will add holiday cheer to the usual fun and laughter.

Leading up to Christmas Day, be sure to include a visit to Knott’s Merry Farm to see the ice show and other seasonal shows. The Ice Show, unfortunately, doesn’t run on Christmas Day.

Take in one of the special traditional Christmas Fantasy parades, with live bands. The procession normally happens down the main road during the day. There is also a beautiful Candlelight Procession. After the procession, the night is filled with story and song as an orchestra lead choir sings Christmas Carols in between readings of the Biblical Christmas story by a celebrity narrator. The memorable occasion that ends with an appearance by Santa Claus himself.

Most of the restaurants are also closed on Christmas day, although you should be able to get a bite at a Disneyland hotel or the resort you are staying at.

There is also a Christmas Shop where you can buy special ornaments not found anywhere else on earth.

There are also special holiday rides that visit Disneyland at Christmas only. The Christmas Tree is magical, so make sure to take a photo.

Finally, you have to finish your night after a Magical wintery day with the fireworks show. That and the snowfall over Main Street USA are so stirring. The fireworks at Disneyland are always something to wait up for, and people even stand outside the gates of the park to watch them. As much of a beautiful sight as they are, you have to see the show inside the park with the music and projections the way they are intended to be seen.

Make sure to make reservations for Christmas Day at Disneyland well in advance, because this is very popular time to visit Disneyland, and be prepared for crowds. Although I hear that the crowds add to that extra special Christmas atmosphere at Disneyland.
